After the vote in Golden, Councillor Wes Routley asked a supplemental
question about communication "recognizing the schism…with the RDEK as far
as time observance, …[and] perhaps informing any future decision that the
[RDEK] Board might consider." Chief Administrative Officer Jeremy Denegar
responded by pointing out "the RDEK actually made the same decision
[regarding MST/UTC−7] at their first go at it" in March, then "rethought
it. Who knows? They may rethink it again."

While I suppose it's technically *possible*, I wouldn't necessarily hold
out *too* much hope that a jurisdiction which has technically made its
decision on the matter twice already would be overly eager to do so a third
time… but I obviously can't speak to all of the local considerations at
play. I can certainly reach out to our contact in Cranbrook and see
whether or not they think there are any such murmurings in response to
Golden's decision ahead of their next board meeting on Friday 11 September
at 09:00 UTC−6, but such an inquiry would have to be "on background",
mostly just informing Paul and myself of any local developments as we try
to pin down the most sensible timing of our next release.

FWIW, public reaction on the town's Facebook post announcing its decision
is… mixed, at best, with over 440 comments at time of writing:

Looking ahead, Columbia Shuswap Regional District now has posted its board
agenda for next Thursday, 10 September, and Time Observance in Electoral
Area A (also known as Rural Golden) is on the agenda as item 8.7. That
meeting starts at 09:30 UTC−7 as it is in Salmon Arm, which observes BC
time. Based on Area Director Karen Cathcart's comments in the Town of
Golden's press release, we currently expect they'll align with Golden and
not RDEK, as there was much concern from all corners of the discussion
about creating a "checkerboard".
