I use XML through UniObjects. I added two attributes to the file dictionary, namely "Hierarchical Level" and "Hierarchical Parent". When I start to create XML, I create a sorted collection of all dictionary items. I then work through the collection item by item to create the XML record.
I found the ToXML in UniData not very usable. One limitation that I had was that I don't have much control of subvalues. I often have to use Textmarks and even lower ASCII charcters to store my hierarchical data. U2 is great for storing hierarchical data and XML great for transmitting it. I can now select which dictionary items I want exported to XML and how to group and level them. I would like to create a tool just like my UniDictionary Editor and UniEditor for the XML configuration of U2 files. But sofar I lacked the time to put it together. Maybe someone wants to collaborate? I don't know if it is good to create splinter groups within the U2 users. We can leave the discussion in the general subjsct area. However the first (and only) question posted has had one response in nearly a week vs the dozens of responses here over the past few days re: how to use READNEXT. ;) A forum is only as good as its contributers, two posters don't mean a lot (especially if one of them is me). :P I would really like to hear more from those who have already broken trail in the U2/XML wilderness, and discuss options with those about to do so.
