What kind of /tmp, or /temp file system space do you have?
When is the last time this file system was defragmented?

What kind of system do you have?
What version of the OS?
How much memory?
What is your current uvconfig parameters?

How long has this system been installed?

What is the process you have running that is sucking up these records?

Is tat process running while you have other regular users on the system
doing their normal routine?
If so, why?
What are those other people doing?
Can you run this process at a less busy point in the day?

Some many questions - so little information provided...
