Chuck, I would suggest a chat room for unmoderated and off-topic discussions instead of a mailing list. Who really wants to dig through archives to read about totally unrelated material? CDP is already cluttered with it. If you, or any of the admins, want help setting something up, let me know. I'd be willing to oper an IRC channel, part-time, on Freenode if needed. Most instant messengers support IRC and there are also a variety of HTTP based streaming or polling chat apps. (similar to what I had at PickSource.
