For the last couple years I don't think I've been treating these much differently, to a point with some browser apps of adding a menubar with File, Edit, Tools, and Help, sometimes even toolbar buttons. Better tools are constantly evolving to make all of this easier. The concept of RIA can be summarized as reproducing the desktop experience in a browser, while being mindful of the limitations.
