Hi Bob: Most documents you receive today are from emails, XML, CSV, Excel, Word, or even X-rays. Even if you receive a paper document almost every office has a copier and scanner were the documents are deposited on a network drive. They are already digital so you can find them on the network or your hard drive and upload them to the Apache Tomcat Web server. Then you add the meta data and tell Universe and Unidata where they are and you are set.
We have one client that requires us to store the data in U2 and not on the web server. We use encode and decode it so we save in the database and display on web pages. Of all of the applications we have written this is not a very high concept piece of software nor is it complex. We have one 750 line UniBasic program that handles everything. We have 6 HTML forms with 6 JavaScript files and one JSP form for this entire application. That is why this Document Management is so economical for us to support and license to users.
