That's a realistic, if somewhat cynical view. It doesn't seem unreasonable for those who are inspired to give it a shot and see what happens. Personally, I think the question "how best to collaborate on code" is a solved problem: http://github.com. A wiki is not the complete answer to the question, though it can play a part. There have been many, many, attempts over the years (from BIX to usenet to U2users) to do a "pick version of gnu". Maybe the time is finally right for it to work?
