If you are worried about UV PE on your XP box (keeping resources etc), here is another solution...
I run UV (or UniData or jBASE) on my laptop using virtual PCs. This way they are always available when I need them, and I can close down the VPC when they are not. I can save its state and continue later where I left off. It also allows me to take easy snapshots, and I can redeploy the VPC images to our other machines: excellent for QA and demos. In fact my new laptop runs virtually everything through VPC except the OS. So if ever dies, I should be able to get up and running straight away on another machine, faster than ghosting (since VPC abstracts the hardware interface). It needs some hefty RAM, but that's cheaper than downtime. If you are a MSDN subscriber, Virtual PC is included in the package. It might have the insignificant side-effect of PREVENTING data data corruption. Seriously though; it is kinda obvious that you want all running processes to finish gracefully before stopping UV isn't it?
