Hi Clay, Thanks for the explanation... 

So based on this, the grease would only be needed / functional at the 'down 
side' of the cable run, on the radio side it is all behind the cover.

I am still having a hard time, visualizing the physical aspect of this... let's 
say the cable jacket has a defect, and water is seeping into it... the water 
will end up in the connector, before the grease and still short out the cable 

------------------------ 

Drip loops are supposed to protect you on the downward side from such cable 
shorting.... 

I can see the use / benefit of the grease in near salt water or marine 
applications, but am having a hard time physically imagining how in a normal 
WISP deployment it is actually creating some sort of protection.
