I have them in the same room, 6 feet each other and with minimum output power.

I configured another NSM5 with same settings than the NSlocoM5, and it
associated with no problem.

At this point I think this Loco is probably a bad radio.

Than something still isn't set exactly right.
  SSID has to match exactly
Channel width has to match (10,20,30Mhz)
  Channel shifting
  Security (if any)

are these radios in the same room? How are you testing them?

If you mismatch security it associated and even pulls DHCP...but you
can't do anything else. It won't ping or respond or anything.

          Am I missing something?

You can associate an XM with an XW and vice versa. I have this
setup all over my network.

What you can’t do is associate an XW nano beam with an XM or XW
UBNT device in the DFS Range as nano beams don’t support DFS, but legacy gear
does.

I have a NSlocoM5 with XW firmware and need it to associate with an
NSM5-AP that has XM firmware.

Has someone ever tried to change a XW firmware for a XM firmware in
a NSlocoM5?
