Caution Hijacking thread. 😊
I need to power the Edgepoint 6 with a 24 VDC POE. Is there such a beast to do
it. I have a Texas WiFi injector but pins 1236 are reversed pol from what UBNT
supplies..

More info, yummy!

Thank you.

Hi guys,
Just updated the KB article to include more information about power input

The AF-24 and AF-24HD WILL support -48VDC since its supply is isolated.
AF-5(not X the large full duplex radio) also will support -48VDC.

AF-5X, AF-4X, AF-3X, AF-2X and AF-11FX WILL NOT ACCEPT -48VDC (positive on
Earth/chassis/tower ground) AT ALL! If an β€œX” radio has been powered by -48VDC
with respect to case (tower ground) it will surely be damaged!

Can someone from Ubnt answer this question? I'm getting yes, no, and maybe in
even numbers. To complicate matters, I did actually power one up with -48V and
it didn't explode. And that wasn't on a bench, isolated from ground. That's
on a metal tower with other -48V non-isolated radios.

Thanks,

I'm reading that as "yes, you can power it with -48VDC."

Input 48v is transformer isolated, individual on-board voltage converters have
DC negative directly coupled to chassis ground.

AF24 reads 0 ohms from board DC- (also digital ground) to chassis plate, β€œno”
path between input DC- and chassis plate.

24HD shares the same PCB, so the same applies for that.

Hi,

Is the AF24's internal power supply isolated in such a way that it can
be powered with -48VDC, like other telco equipment with a positive
ground, or will this cause a short when mixed with other -48VDC
equipment on the same ground plane?

Thanks,
