I have an Audigy 2 sound card and in order to record sound, I have to
enable the the Analog Mix (Recording) input and turn up the volume
- sliders. My microphone is plugged into the mic jack on my sound card.

[What I expected to happen]
In a default install, I expect sound recording to work with absolutely no

and turn up the volume slider.
