network-manager in intrepid does not support /etc/network/interfaces
configuration. The default intrepid configuration enables network-
manager and disable /etc/init.d/networking (which uses
/etc/network/interfaces). If you have both enabled, you will for sure
have problems.
Are you able to reproduce network problems with network-manager only, or
basic networking only?
you can install sysv-rc-conf to enable/disable network-manager or
networking at boot.
