Well, I'll verify the cd image. I doubt the problem is with the burner though, it's a brand new system, and the Intrepid release installs and runs just fine. That's what I'm running right now actually: 8.10 on the very same machine, burned with the same burner. I'll try the MD5SUM check. I apologize for the delays in getting back to you, but that machine is sitting in my office and I'm only there on some weekdays.
Thanks again. ----- Original Message ---- From: Martin Mai <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, February 10, 2009 2:26:06 PM Subject: [Bug 325121] Re: Ubuntu Jauntyalpha 3 does not boot from Live CD For me it works. It would appear that the CD image (ISO file) you downloaded could be corrupt. There is an easy way to verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO files you download. Could you please visit https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM follow the instructions and report back as to whether or not the MD5SUM verified? Furthermore there could be a problem related to your CD/DVD burner. -- Ubuntu Jauntyalpha 3 does not boot from Live CD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/325121 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Tried to boot from Live-CD for Jaunty alpha-3 on a Dell Optiplex 960. The screen is black right after selecting try from CD. The keyboard is frozen as well, however, if I press the off button on the machine the Ubuntu splash screen appears, and the status indicator appears. If I keep pressing and releasing the off button, progress proceeds, but still the os never loads. -- Ubuntu Jauntyalpha 3 does not boot from Live CD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/325121 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
