Yes, this /proc/acpi/ibm/brightness interface is there: --- r...@fry:/proc/acpi/ibm# cat brightness level: 15 commands: up, down commands: level <level> (<level> is 0-15) --- However, if use this interface there is no delay and the brightness changes as I would hope/expect. # echo "down" >brightness # echo "up" >brightness # echo "level 0" >brightness These all work without a noticeable delay or problem. Is there a way for me to change the keys to use this interface in this way? > Probably the best work-around for you would be the combination of the > thinkpad_acpi option and the "acpi_backlight=vendor" on the grub/kernel > commandline. I can try this. My main concern is that, at least without the thinkpad_acpi option, "acpi_backlight=vendor" causes other problems on my system such as strange pauses/hangs that last for several seconds then go away. Similar to the problem Alex Matveev posted above on 2009-02-16. > Could you please also attach a dump of your acpi tables: > sudo acpidump -o r61-acpi.dmp Attached. This is my first time responding to a bug by email, so I hope this works properly! ** Attachment added: "r61-acpi.dmp" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/25116252/r61-acpi.dmp -- the brightness applet and function key do not work on my thinkpad x61s https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/324061 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
