Although using UXA I'm not experiencing any freezes so far (tried repro.sh for 10 minutes, while opening firefox a few dozen times), I found what I did wrong (or right) to not have the bug, and how to reproduce again.
While reinstalling ubuntu, first thing I did was following LP #359392 instructions on how to reproduce and installed repro.sh. However I inadvertently installed also the intel-gpu-utils from the repos: By doing this change, libdrm2 and libdrm-intel1 get replaced by a newer development version (2.4.9-build1) which does not reproduces the bug. Please install intel-gpu-utils and see if you are still experiencing the problem.
