I think it is important to keep in mind that the -graphicssystem raster option is should be a workaround to the problem, not a solution. Since kile 3.0 was able to render the fonts quickly, so should kile 3.1. Seeing switching to a new, faster rendering system as a solution is like saying: I have ten for-loops in my program that do not help the program, but delay it's execution for a few seconds. Instead of removing the for- loops, I switched to a faster machine.
