My previous report was on a 32 bit system. This time I fired up my 64 bit monster that I am preparing to sell(it is liquid cooled and I had already drained and flushed the system so I had to hook up the pump and hoses and fill it with coolant in order to test a Xubuntu install). Everything went perfectly fine so I guess something in Xubuntu doesn't like something with my temporary old timer hardware. I tried Mandriva 2009.1 with XFCE 4.6 and ext4 with no problems. Of course Mandriva is using the 2.6.29 kernel which could maybe make a difference. I forgot how much I don't like the Mandriva package manager. Yikes. Anyhow, I'll upload the files from this latest install on my big machine(even though everything worked fine), and try some other Ubuntu/Debian based distros as well as Ubuntu 9.04 just to see what happens. If I get a repeat of the bug I'll report it.
