Thanks Quanah for reporting this bug, and helping make Ubuntu better. The cn=admin,dc=example,dc=com dn is created during installation. The dc=exmaple,dc=com portion depends on the domain name of the host.
This can be reconfigured post-installation using the dpk-reconfigure utility. It is documented in the installation section: https://help.ubuntu.com/8.10/serverguide/C/openldap-server.html #openldap-server-installation However, it is probably a good idea to highlight that at the beginning of the "Populating LDAP" section. Do you think adding a note to that effect will solve this bug, or should the structure of the LDAP section be rearranged? The current structure is pretty linear, and depending on your experience with slapd on Ubuntu your mileage may vary.
