No, the other way round: We install empathy by default, and (through
ubuntu-desktop) on upgrades. It would be nice if janitor pointed out
that pidgin could be uninstalled now if the user prefers to use
empathy. This kind of obsoletion is usually done by moving the old
package to universe, and update-manager cleans it up. But we want to
keep pidgin in main for now, so that people who upgrade don't loose
their logs or preferred features.
