My system is also failing to boot. With 0.2.0~boot1 I had lots of messages about various non disk filesystems (proc, sys ...) being read only. I had a root prompt and was able to remount the root file system as rw, at which point booting continued.
I then upgraded the mountall package to 0.2.0~boot4, did the test at the command line and did a reboot. This reboot, I get a couple of messages and then nothing. The cursor is flashing, and the disk activity light is working, but despite waiting for a while nothing else happens. There is no prompt I can access. If I do Ctrl-Alt-F2 the screen clears and I just get a flashing prompt, which Ctrl-Alt-F1 brings back the few messages I have: ket slot 0 unlocked. Command successful. File descriptor 3 left open 3 logical volumes in volume group whisper I have an encrypted root filesystem (installed from the alternate disk under jaunty and upgraded to karmic a month ago - working fine all that time). Actually, having just typed all that, the boot has now continued, having been stuck for about 10 minutes ... I will post the mountall log data from that computer now it is booting. -- System doesn't boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/440896 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
