A workaround exists:

open /usr/sbin/pm-suspend ( ie. sudo gedit /usr/sbin/pm-suspend)

add this line to the beginning

umount <where your card is mounted> (ie. umount /media/mySD)

reboot.

The mini will now properly suspend. The only annoying issue is that upon
resume, the SD card will mount and a window with its content will show
up and take focus.
