I'm not sure whether the problem is the same but the message is:
"Install Problem! The configuration defaults for GNOME Power Manager
have not been installed correctly. PLease contact your computer
administrator".

I upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10. I got the black screen, entered in
recovery mode, used dpkg and it worked perfect for 2 weeks. Now I cannot
login anymore. When I ignore the G-P-M install problem message and try
to log in, my desktop pc tries to start up the gnome desktop but after
some time returns with the message above.

I can only enter via recovery mode and use command line now

Someone pls help, my pc has become unusable (even more for my wife ;-).
