Please increase the importance of the bug, since it is really critical
for remotely administrated server systems! If for any reason the server
is rebooted, it cannot be administrated remotely (sshd does not start),
nor other services (e.g. web servers, sql servers etc) are started,
making the server completely un-operational.

I have two machines affected, both started from 8.04 and always
upgraded. Neither of them has a /etc/network/interfaces file, that was
deleted at some point, to let network manager operate. Shall I restore
the 'interfaces' file for localhost at least? If this is a
solution/workaround for the bug, then it should be documented.
