Here are my observations, Downgrading does NOT solve my problem.
I DO have a /etc/network/interfaces file: cat /etc/network/interfaces auto lo iface lo inet loopback My install was directly 9.10 (no upgrade) 64 bit. uname -a : Linux <name> 2.6.31-17-generic #54-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 10 17:01:44 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux service --status-all only shows "ntp" and "pulseaudio" as started (ntp is strange because it should also rely on network) This bug is also serious because it prevents ordinary users from printing. Please let me know how I can help debug this (f.inst by adding debug output lines to some files, but which?).
