I have virtually the same symptoms as the previous bug filer, except I
run Kubuntu on the machine I was attempting to upgrade. In addition to
the flash-plugin and CUPS (which was creating difficulties as the error
dialog would not go away, though I have no printer on that system), I
encountered a couple other dialogs as well during the "upgrade" process.

I presume you closed this problem because the person who filed the bug
did not provide the information you requested. I will provide the
information if you tell me the steps to go through to do so. At this
point the Kubuntu system having problems will not boot from the hard
drive.

However, I have a Ubuntu Jaunty "live CD" which does boot and allows me
to access the "user contents" of the hard drive. Unfortunately, at this
point, it won't let me see system type files in that manner. Please help
me, I don't want to reinstall all the software I've added to my system,
if I can avoid it.

I don't think I'm that unusual a user and would like to see
Ubuntu/Kubuntu become the standard desktop OS, but problems such as this
will get in the way of that. I am looking forward to your help, and
thank you for your time.
