Thanks Marc. Does this crash every time in kvm, or only occasionally? If it only crashes occasionally, would you mind providing an xtrace log from a good run too. I can't spot anything obviously wrong there, so there could be a server issue too. Nevertheless, we should put some guards around these X calls to trap these types of errors, and just abort the fade attempt rather than crashing
