Robin,
Looking at your log your syncdaemon.conf has a bunch of 
\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00. Could you please try the following

1. Quit Ubuntu One. Then stop the syncdaemon by opening a Terminal
(Applications > Accessories > Terminal) and running:

u1sdtool -q

2. Run this command in the Terminal:

sudo gedit /etc/xdg/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf

3. It looks like you need to delete the first line. (It might be blank
spaces)  The first line in the file should be:

[__main__]

4. Save the file and then start Ubuntu One.
