Same problem. New install of 10.04 on a Dell laptop an Inspiron 700m Intel® Pentium® M Processor 745 (1.80 GHz/400MHz FSB)12.1-in WXGA. Ubuntu 9.04 ran fine on the laptop with no issues. I know the laptop is old but I was hopeful it would still work. On the first boot after the install I was never able to get a screen. I briefly saw the Ubuntu splash and then nothing. Numerous reboots failed to resolved. I tried several key sequences during the boot cycle. Thank you
