Steve:

I have 9.10 installed on HD (using Grub) and 10.04 on a USB drive (using
Grub 2). Am I now required to use Grub-PC? which I find is more
difficult to use and is complicated beyond belief. It is assumed that
everyone has chosen to change to grub-pc?

Why do you install grub 2 when given a choice during installation of
10.04?

Fred

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and help to improve

Ubuntu.

The upgrade log shows that you have removed the grub 2 package in favor

of the grub 1 package, which is in an unconfigured state. You should

avoid doing this. To restore the grub 2 package, please run 'sudo apt-

get install grub-pc'.

Why did you install the 'grub' package?

** Changed in: grub (Ubuntu)
