As a user:
g...@urtrtfph:~$ fuser -v /dev/snd/*
USER PID ACCESS COMMAND
/dev/snd/controlC0: gvl 3601 F.... pulseaudio
As root:
r...@urtrtfph:~# fuser -v /dev/snd/*
Cannot stat file /proc/3706/fd/4: No such file or directory
USER PID ACCESS COMMAND
/dev/snd/controlC0: gvl 3601 F.... pulseaudio
I installed 10.04 LTS server, this is not an upgrade.
It appears that the sound system is working, ok, except there is no
sound output from the machine. There are now sound devices appearing now
in System->Preferences->Sound
The Vu meter's move when sound is being played etc. There is NO sound
coming out from the machine though.
I did state above that part of the resolution to get to this point was
indeed permissions, which I changed from the command line.
If you need any more info, I will gladly post it.
