If you are copying onto the FAT32 drive, then there is a file size
limitation of 4Gb. This has nothing to do with Linux, that's the limit
that FAT32 can handle.

Can you confirm that this is in fact the case?

If so, then your bug report should be something like:

rdiff-backup fails to deal with FAT32 file system errors.

And to be honest, I secretly suspect that the implementation issue is at
the FAT32 kernel driver level, but I'm only guessing at this stage.

(I'm working on some other issues related to FAT32 and dosfstools, which
is why I saw your bug report in the first place.)
