hello onno, you're right. all my gnu/linux (kubuntu 7.04) partitions are ext3. the only fat32 device i own is a mobile drive with one partition of 250GB. there i will have to stay on fat32 because the world needs some more time to become quite perfect. i'm wanted to store a backup from my ext3 /home/* folders onto that fat32 harddisk. so it might relate to the > 4GB fat32 kernel driver restriction you mentioned.
