Agreed, gparted did not work for me on the amd64 Maverick live cd until I downloaded the gparted 0.7.0 .deb. This needs to get into Maverick and if possible Maverick live cd as soon as possible. I usually carry around the latest Ubuntu live cd to do rescue on any computer that needs it, often without internet available to download the fix, due to missing wireless drivers,
