OK I think we made it...
There was that nagging question in the terminal after "Quit" :
"There is a running debug process are you sure you want to kill it?..."
I elected to choose "Yes" if I failed that test too, just flunk me and I'll go 
for another session...
Here are the files, for good measure I added the Terminal session although it 
looks similar to what you have in the gdb...
