Did some digging on loquat. I re-installed Natty Server 64bit. It DOES
actually boot, but checkbox dies and I think that just stops the process
so you never see a login on the default TTY.

Switching to a different TTY, however, reveals a login that works.

The checkbox log seems to have a lot of these errors:

WARNING Can't connect to https://certification.canonical.com/message

It appears to be attempting to send initial stuff (package info, lspci
info, etc) but since it can't connect to the cert site, it's just dying.

** Summary changed:

- [Dell PowerEdge R300] Fails to boot Natty
+ [Dell PowerEdge R300] Checkbox is not able to connect to
certification.canonical.com
