I installed the 2011-04-19-natty i386 kernel in the link you gave.
Rebooted, turned wireless back on in the BIOS and hooray it works!

The bug definitely occurred both on battery and AC.

I haven't tested your AltGr+SysRq request.

By the way, this was working ok in 10.10 with one of the backport
kernels.

Is this enough help to get the bug fixed in Natty or do I need to test
on some other kernels to pinpoint the regression?
