I can't remember exactly what i did to recover the functionality of PiTiVi.
I guess I uninstalled and then reinstalled again, previously changing the
source from where Ubuntu gets its updates (I no longer use my default one,
in Mexico, but one in the USA).

Just wanted to point out that no one should treat devolopers as "service"
people, since we are not paying a penny. Try to keep a positive actitude
towards those who gaves us so much, albeit sometimes some of his work can't
please us totally.
