I subscribed Seth Forshee because he was the assignee for bug 761176
which I wanted to reopen.

The 802.11n LAN appears to be permanently stuck back at pathetic levels
of download performance. The problem reappeared coincident with
installation of some updates via the Update Manager on 2011.7.23. I have
not yet tried the wired LAN.

If someone can tell me where to find the Update Manager's log files, I
will be able to say exactly what the updates were. The Synaptic Package
Manager's history does not show any changes in July so it seems that
Update Manager stores its logs somewhere else. I do remember that
gstreamer updates were included. I do not recall a reboot being
necessary after the updates so I'm not sure how they could have
adversely affected networking.
