I don't think this is fixed. I just upgraded from Kubuntu 11.4 to 11.11 and I am confronted with exactly this problem.
On the other hand, on another machine that was installed to Kubuntu 11.11 from scratch (when it was in early alpha stage, and then upgraded continuously) the problem is not present. Both access the same mail servers / accounts. Question: where/how can I read the exact configuration settings on both machines to make a "diff"? I suspect the trash bin folder is misconfigured on the migrated machine, and attempts to change the account configuration have no effect.
