OK, I now have a bit more info on this.
I have just recently changed my two main workstations from kubuntu dapper to
feisty (7.04).
In both cases, I completely re-installed from scratch (reformatting '/'), *but*
keeping my
own personal files on another partition. That means that ~/.kde/..., etc., was
retained from
dapper, and the new installation did not touch anything in there.
After the change to feisty, in konquerer on web pages, when I would right
click a link then
select "Open in New Window", I would get a wind with the location toolbar
missing, the
items in the menu bar in a different order, The Location and Bookmarks menu
missing amoung other
things (as mentioned by the first not above). When I would "Open in a New
Tab", then "Detach Tab",
the new window would be OK.
My first note above describes what I did on my first box.
On my second box here is what I did.
-- In "Settings / Load View Profiles" I noticed two: "File Management"
and "Kubuntu Web".
-- Start a fresh konquerer in the normal way (clicking desktop icon). The
resulting
window is OK.
-- Select "Settings / Save View Profile". I saved it as "Kubuntu Web" (I.e.,
overwriting the existing
profile).
Now, right click/Open in New Window creates the proper window.
So it all has to do with view profiles, but thats about the limit of my
knowledge.
I'm surprised not to see more reports of this problem, but perhaps it has to do
with the
fact that my user files were retained from dapper.
cheers
