Gorgonzola:
Hmm. The question "broken resume problem" begs another question - how was the
resume partition referenced in /etc/fstab and
/etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume ? Was it with a uuid or was it with the
/dev/sd?? syntax? If it was the later then I would not expect it to work with a
change such as this and the question becomes who or what set it to /dev/sd??
and why.

The IRQ timeouts could be due to bugs in the intel PATA drivers on new
machines (that might not have been seen because they were using intel
SATA drivers up until now). The next question is "Does _everyone_ who
has an Intel SATA board get these IRQ timeouts or is it some subset (and
if it's a subset what's common between them)?".
