Yes, this seems to have worked. I am using the b43 driver and the only issue I see is that while the network icon in the status bar says "no connection" the wicd network manager says the connection is ok. At first bootup the network icon says it is connected but after about 10 minutes that icon says the connection is lost but the wicd icon says the connection is good and I am still able to use the network.
