michael wang, as per
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/vostro-1000 an
update is available for your BIOS (2.6.3). If you update to this does it
change anything?

If not, regarding your comments
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1093542/comments/6 :
>"Yes, this seems to have worked. I am using the b43 driver and the only issue

I'm confused by this. As per
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1093542/+attachment/3467319/+files/Lspci.txt
you were initially using the b43 driver from the Ubuntu repositories
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/b43-fwcutter, correct?

In
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1093542/comments/5
I asked you to test the drivers provided by Broadcom from the Ubuntu
repositories (either https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl or
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/broadcom-sta) and report the
results. Could you please clarify?

Regarding your comments

This comment does not make sense given my above comment.

>" Is there a way to increase the time out for the probe from AP?"

IDK.

>"What is AP?"

AP = Access Point
