> You should only be setting the GRUB_GFXMODE, not the vga=. Does it work when you do that?
setting only GRUB_GFXMODE and GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD to the very same value does not work at all: Grub switches to 800x600, but the kernel will only use 640x480. I *have* to set "vga=" too! Maybe this is because some older kernel do not use "GFXMODE", but "vga"? The newer kernel just *ignore* setting "vga=" but these kernel do *not* switch to what is expected by GFXMODE. They are ignoring both: "vga=" and "gfxmode="! Some kernel in between tell me about "vga=" being deprecated and should not be used any more. Some honour this setting, some do not. It depends on distribution and how the kernel was compiled. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1247907 Title: Ubuntu booting into black console To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1247907/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
