x:
I can't really tell what this bug is about when I had a quick glance. Initially
it looked like it might be about the NVIDIA driver not being recognised when
Ubuntu Feisty was initially used but the log snippet seems to suggest a manual
install which generally changes where you can go for support. The part about
buying a new motherboard sounds a bit extreme so I won't comment any more on
that.

I myself won't look at this any further as it seems to have turned into a
manual install issue but I think it would help if you could upload your entire
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
and
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
(the log should mention NVIDIA rather than NV) files using the attachment
button on the launchpad website. It may also be useful for someone else to see
the file produced by doing
dmesg > dmesg.txt
after you are in the NVIDIA binary driver X.

As you are appear to have done a manual install you may also want to
take a quick look at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NvidiaManual as
that details some of the common issues with manual installs. Good luck!
