Yes, very much so, there is one question, 258578 and a bug report 1399302, both describe in detail what happened after an upgrade in place from 14.04 LTS to 14.10.
Subsequently I rebuilt a system from 10.04 LTS through two upgrades and ended up with 14.04.1 LTS and I have neither panel nor launcher. Since the reinstallation and now in 14.04.1 LTS a kernell upgrade happened and no change. The system works, everything I installed is OK but I can only use a Gnome desktop, which is all right, but not as useful as Unity.. This is an ongoing problem on this Dell Vostro laptop wit AMD processor and video. A resolution would most definetely be welcome.
