I had exactly the same issue. Solution was pretty simple 0. Close your Qgis 1. Open your /home/USER_NAME/.config/QGIS/QGIS2.conf 2. Find section [qgis] 3. Search for style= in my case was this line empty (so style= ) 4. Change this line to e.g. style=Plastique 5. Save changes and restart Qgis
