To see if what's resolved? The boot failure or this freeze issue? FYI - 3.17 has display corruption (large parts of the screen don't get painted), and my test method wasn't reliable, it's going to take ages trying to bisect the version to find a potentially fixed one as it looks like I need the machine to be running for a day or so to be certain of anything.
