Hi,
this was actually a bug in initramfs / gdm, see in dpkg logs :
/etc/initramfs-tools/update-initramfs.conf: 1: gdm-simple-slave[1118]:: not
found
desktop-based triggered the error because it calls update-initramfs
during configuration.
I’m closing it now since it was raised against a much older Ubuntu version.
Feel free to open another bug if it still happens on current releases upgrade.
